NBR

NBR rubber, also known as nitrile or Buna-N, is a synthetic elastomer widely used across various industrial sectors due to its excellent properties.

Here are the main ones:

  • – Oil Resistance: NBR rubber is particularly resistant to oils, greases, and other hydrocarbons, making it ideal for applications where these substances are present.
  • – Thermal Resistance: While not reaching the performance of other specific high-temperature elastomers, NBR offers good heat resistance.
  • – Wear Resistance: Shows excellent resistance to wear, tearing, and abrasion.

Due to its robust properties, NBR is used in a wide range of applications:

  • – Automotive: Gaskets, hoses, sleeves, and diaphragms.
  • – Industrial: O-rings, gaskets, and machinery components.
  • – Medical: Disposable gloves not suitable for surgery but used for handling contaminated materials.

Despite its strengths, NBR has some limitations:

  • – Weathering Exposure: NBR rubber is not particularly resistant to weathering agents such as ozone, UV rays, and extreme temperatures.
  • – Chemical Compatibility: It is not compatible with strong acids, ozone, ketones, esters, and chlorinated hydrocarbons.

NBR rubber is a versatile material with a wide range of applications, primarily due to its oil resistance and durability. However, its limitations should be considered when selecting the right material for a specific application.
